T-Bone Wolk, best known as the bassist for Hall & Oates for the past 30 years, died on Saturday (February 27) of an apparent heart attack. The Yonkers, NY native was 58 years old.
T-Bone (whose real name was Tom Wolk) got his break in 1980 after playing on Kurtis Blow's hit "The Breaks," which became the first ever rap single to go gold.
T-Bone Wolk playing bass for Hall & Oates, he also leant his talents to such hitmakers as Carly Simon, Elvis Costello, Cyndi Lauper and Billy Joel. Some may recognize him as a former member of the Saturday Night Live house band, where he played from 1986 to 1992.
Billboard reports that Wolk was scheduled to appear on tonight's episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, performing alongside Hall & Oates as part of the show's one-year anniversary special. There's no word on the status of Hall & Oates' performance, but perhaps the duo will perform some sort of tribute to their departed sideman.
